This was Inauguration Day in 2005. This years celebration is suppose to be at LEAST 3 times bigger than any other Inauguration. |

Macbeth will be the center of attraction; the brooding drama about death, murder, and black magic is one of Shakespeare’s bloodiest tragedies, digging into the mysterious territory of a man’s choices. Encouraged by the visions of three witches, Macbeth and his lady kill their way to the Scottish throne, but attaining it brings no glory. New horrors unfold as the prophecies of greatness turn out to mean something else. It is personally one of my favorites. The Macbeth Design Tutorial investigates stage and costume design, as well as make-up. Hopefully it will give the students some technical and creative ideas to use in their own play productions. If you have the money, I would really suggest applying to Mrs. Sperling-Nordqvist for this wonderful festival, especially if you are into drama. Well, I wish all the best of luck to the travelers; I’m sure it will be a blast. |

Inauguration Day is the day every four years on which the President of the United States is sworn in and takes office. Inauguration Day takes place on January 20th. This year’s election is the most historic political election this nation has ever had. Three years ago, four students from Geyserville Ed Park were nominated by Mr. Johnson to attend the Junior National Leadership Conference in Washington D.C.. Hannah Paquette, Jeannie LeGallee, Lindsay Harjak, and Maggie Elliot were the four students who went to Washington D.C. for this conference. Since these four girls are alumni, they were invited to the Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference (PYIC). Three of these four girls are going to this historic event; two of those three are students at Geyserville High School. |

Hannah Paquette and Lindsay Harjak are the two freshmen at Geyserville High school who were invited to the 2009 Inauguration in Washington D.C. They were personally invited by Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference (PYIC). The PYIC is a program which provides an extraordinary experience to see the inauguration. Once we arrive in Washington D.C. on January 17th, 2009, we go through an orientation and then on to an Opening Ceremony. That evening we will retire to our rooms to unpack and get settled. On Day Two, we will have classes throughout the day that have to do with the Presidential elections throughout history and other related |
|
topics. We will witness keynote speakers who will talk about the election process. Those speakers are General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.), Former Secretary of State and Founder of America’s Promise Alliance, and Al Gore, Former Vice President of the United States and Nobel Prize Winner. Then, during the evening hours, we will visit various DC monuments. Of course, every night after all of our activities, we will return to out rooms to sleep. Day Three starts out with classes and then another guest speaker who is a Public Policy Expert. We will also go through a simulation where we create political platforms. On Day Four we will have private access to the Smithsonian Institution on the National Mall, witness the Inauguration, Oath of Office, and Inaugural Address of the 44th President of the United States, view the inaugural parade as the President and Vice |
|
President’s motorcade travels from the United States Capitol Building down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House, and visit the National Mall’s monuments and museums. Later that night, we will attend the exclusive Black Tie Gala Inaugural Ball as the culmination of the conference. We plan to dance and celebrate the night away in the center of all the inaugural activities. When we return to Geyserville, I will provide an update of our trip in the February edition of the Broncho Express. Sources: Http://www.cylc.org/shared/pyic_preliminary.pdf |

The Geyserville Broncho Express is published at least 8 times per year. Due to high productions costs, the Broncho Express is delivered digitally on the school’s website. Signed articles and other pieces in the Broncho Express represent the opinion of the writer/artist and do not necessarily reflect those of the Broncho Express, Geyserville Educational Park or the Geyserville Unified School District. The Broncho Express is digitally printed by the Studio Productions class, Geyserville High school. |
