This year’s tennis team is slowly taking shape in anticipation of tennis season, Tuesday February 3rd. Coach Klug told us that 13 students have signed up to play. “Practice will officially begin next week on February 3. As usual, we’ll begin with conditioning training followed by skills and practice. Our first game will be on February 27 against St. Vincent High School in Petaluma. Check out the school website for our schedule of games.” lsaid Coach Klug. The tennis squad will also face a new group of schools since changing leagues this year. RVC, Tomales, Calistoga and St. Vincent will be our new worthy opponents. Come out this year and support the tennis team! |

With last minute team back-downs and emergency add-ins, this year’s Geyserville Small School’s Classic (also known as GSSC) was definitely one to remember. The tournament was a bit hectic until the morning of December 18, the first day of the tournament. The final schedule for the tournament wasn’t set until the third game of the day. There were a total of eight girls’ teams and eight boys’ teams. On the first day for the girls, Leggett Valley beat Orinda Academy, Southern Trinity defeated Piner JV, Pescadero conquered Santa Rosa Christian, and Providence Christian outplayed Geyserville. On the second day, Friday December 19, Piner JV subdued Orinda Academy, Geyserville exceeded Santa Rosa Christian, Southern Trinity outrivaled Leggett Valley, and Providence Christian overtook Pescadero. On the final day, Saturday December 20, Santa Rosa Christian topped Orinda Academy for seventh place; Geyserville trounced Piner JV for Consolation, Pescadero foiled Leggett Valley for third place, and Providence Christian triumphed over Southern Trinity for the Championship. The girls’ coach Jamie Hale was quoted saying, “The tournament went fantastically. The team had a few minor oops in the first game which led to their defeat but otherwise played great and won a few games while having fun. Overall they did very well.” On the first day for the boys, Orinda Academy was victorious over Leggett Valley, Pacific Union Prep (PUP) denied Southern Trinity a win, Potter Valley vanquished Pescadero, and Geyserville overwhelmed Santa Rosa Christian. On the second day, Friday December 19, Leggett Valley outshined Southern Trinity, Santa Rosa Christian crushed Pescadero, PUP beat Orinda Academy, and Potter Valley defeated Geyserville. On the final day, Saturday December 20, Southern Trinity beat Pescadero for seventh place, Leggett Valley transcended Santa Rosa Christian for Consolation, Orinda Academy outrivaled Geyserville for third place, and PUP annihilated Potter Valley for the Championship. The boys’ head coach Mike Parks told reporters “The tournament went well. The boys have improved greatly. They competed at the level they needed to. Their attitude and efforts were all there, even if they fell short of their goal, which was winning a few more games. Their competitive spirit is not challenged by anyone in the league.” |
