Caffeine is very common in today’s world. But do you know the facts versus the fiction? There are a lot of myths about caffeine and its effects, but they are not all true. One common misconception about caffeine is that it its addictive. Caffeine affects your central nervous system, and so if you drink it often and then suddenly stop, you may experience some symptoms of withdrawal for a day or two, especially if you regularly drink a very large amount of caffeine, such as two or more cups of coffee every morning. These symptoms lead to the belief that it must be addictive, and while you can develop a small amount of physical dependence too it, the severity is nothing compared to other drugs or alcohol. Another myth about caffeine is that it can cause insomnia. Caffeine is absorbed by your body quickly, however, and its effects are usually gone after about six hours. Sensitivity to caffeine obviously varies from person to person, but unless consumed late in the day, it should not interfere with sleeping patterns. People also say that caffeine increases your risk of getting cancer. Multiple studies have proved that caffeine and cancer have no correlation, however, proving this myth completely false. Another delusion about caffeine is that it hurts children, who this day in age drink way too much. The reason people think this is |

because teenagers and kids are beginning to drink energy drinks more and more. The truth is that it is safe to have up to 300 milligrams of caffeine everyday. The harmful effects of all the energy drinks come not from the caffeine, but from the sugar and other ingredients, not caffeine itself. Does caffeine have any health benefits? Most people would tell you no. But recent studies have shown that there are some potential helpful things that come from caffeine. The most obvious is that it helps you feel more alert and concentrate. A French study suggested that women who regularly consume caffeine have longer lasting cognitive abilities. It is also possible that caffeine’s anti-inflammatory effects could help the immune system function. Caffeine can also reduce concentrations of histamines, helping with allergic reactions. These benefits are not yet proven, but there have been studies to suggest that they are true. Nu metal is a sub-genre of heavy metal that emerged in the early 1990’s that combines grunge music, alternative metal, funk metal, hip hop, and various other heavy metal influences such as industrial, groove and thrash. Nu metal bands feature aggressive vocals that range from melodic singing similar to pop and rock. Vocals include death growls and hardcore punk or funk metal screams. Nu metal bass parts are often reminiscent of hip hop or funk grooves, and in some songs, slap bass technique is used to give the music a funk groove. The bass in nu metal is occasionally the driving force behind the music. Most nu metal bassists' will use a 5-string over a 4-string bass guitar. Nu metal drumming often consists of hip hop, funk, and heavy metal influences. Double bass drumming is not very common in the style, except in certain bands. But unlike the long passages of double bass that death metal and black metal drummers utilize, nu metal drummers use double bass in "stop-go" bursts. Many nu metal bands feature a DJ for additional rhythmic instrumentation (such as music sampling, scratching and electronic backgrounds). Some nu metal bands are Limp Bizkit, Mushroomhead, Slipknot, Hed PE, Korn, Linkin Park, P.O.D. and Taproot. Christian metal is a form of heavy metal music that contains Christian lyrics and themes. The Christian metal musical genre has all of the characteristics of heavy metal music, such as loud guitars, bombastic riffs, and long solos. Christian metal is not a single style of music, but rather a mixture of almost every subgenre of heavy metal music. The term “Christian metal” was born in the 1980’s, around the time when heavy metal music divided into numerous subgenres. The musicians within Christian metal bands typically base their lyrics on Judeo-Christian traditions. The lyrical approach of Christian metal bands is somewhat varied, as some emphasize the positive aspects of faith matters while others iterate the teachings of Christ. Some bands keep their message covered in metaphors, while other Christian metal bands do not declare their conviction at all and only concentrate on the entertainment aspect of music. Only a few bands take an aggressive attitude towards those who speak against Christianity. The groups Underoath, Demon Hunter, As I Lay Dying, and Norma Jean, pioneered the Christian metal revival in the 2000’s. Other Christian metal bands are Blessthefall and Haste the Day. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_metal_subgenres |
