This month’s classroom spotlight is on Mr. Goodhart’s Marine biology class. Recently, they have been studying fish that live in conditions so intense it would kill any other organism. These fish live in waters that are three times the normal boiling temperature of water, but the reason it’s not boiling is because the high pressure down there changes the boiling point. These fish were completely unknown to scientists until a few years ago when some scientist decided to explore these harsh conditions and made the unique discovery. for marine biologists who devote their lives to create a greater knowledge of our own planet. Many believe that we need to fully understand our own planet before we continue onto other planets. We should take some money away from our space program and put it into the ocean research. Research of ocean can bring forth much valuable knowledge. I think marine biology is a very important and interesting subject. It is hard to go down that deep but the human race is always discovering new things and if we could only advance just a little bit we might be able to find new species that we never knew existed and our marine biology books can be filled with new information so that we can pass this information onto future generations. Then after we have learned about the deep we can move onto the outer space. Even at the depths we are able to go to we find fish that are amazing and live in places we could not. This tells us that there could be more fish even deeper is we could only look or get down that far. We find interesting chemicals in these deep sea fish that has helped us do many beneficial things and maybe if there are fish deep with even different chemical that can help us greatly. Marine biology is not only an elective class but also a wonderful science that should be studied. Next year think about signing up. |
