Ed Park Update

Macy McClung

All is going well so far this school year at the Geyserville Ed Park. People are happy to see their friends after a fairly short summer. And as we all know, with new friends and a new school year comes new features to our freshly remodeled school.

Continuing with the remodeling from last year our, the Ed Park has received new ceiling panels in all of the classrooms, freshly tiled and scrubbed locker rooms with newly replaced faucets have the whole gym gleaming.

Speaking of the gym, the walls have been freshly coated with paint. The lower sections of the walls have been covered with off-green carpeting for safety reasons. (Personally I think rug burn all along my body would be much more painful than being slammed into the gym walls). The favorite feature that has the kids going wild with pleasure in the gym, brand spanking new plastic seat covers. According to Senior Alilla Dollar, “It makes sitting on the bleachers more comfortable because you don’t get splinters.”

There is also excitement for improvements in the classrooms as well. “We got 15 new desks.” said our principal Mrs. Hadden. The lucky teachers to receive those desks were: Ms. Bertolucci, Mr. Fernandez, and Mr. Johnson.

Speaking of a place to rest your sit-upon place, there are new green metal benches in our quad. The benches extend around the perimeter of the small flower garden, which has been nicely cleaned up this summer. The benches themselves bring a little more school spirit to our campus and brighten our spirits as well.

There was a petition made by an organization near Los Angeles to have a charter school in this area be overseen by the Geyserville School District. Parents met at the meeting on October 7th to determine if the petition would go through or be refused. Ultimately the group shot down the proposal for one of many reasons, according to Mrs. Hadden, the group agreed the charter school “would be too much of a financial burden on our school.”

With all of the refurbishments in our school happening we are off to an exciting school year. Hopefully we will see many more improvements in our school as the year goes on.
