High school sports at this moment are soccer and volleyball. The volleyball team has a junior varsity team and a varsity team this year. Both teams are doing fairly well and are off to a great start! This year’s varsity team players are Jennifer Reyes, Charlotte Kreklau our foreign exchange student from Germany, Kelsie Jones, Allila Dollar, Lindsay Swaney, Macy McClung, Cassandra Schuman, Deanna Torres, and Marcy Flores. The varsity has won six of their games and lost seven. The junior varsity team is doing a little better than the varsity team they have won twelve games and lost one. This years junior varsity team players are, Zoë Ottoboni, Lindsay Harjak, Jeannie LeGallee, Ruth Galindo, Febita Galindo, Sandra Hernandez, Veronica Hernandez, Selena Galvez, Melissa Singley, and Iris Vasquez. Volleyball teams look pretty good this year and it shows by the games they have played and will play soon. The teams are currently being coached by Piedad Flores and from what I hear she is doing a wonderful job coaching the girls! Let’s wish all the ladies good luck for their future games and congratulate them on their games won! Now let’s talk a little bit about the soccer team this year which I hear is doing much better than years before. This year’s coach is Mr. Bekker and he is doing a great job as well! The soccer team has four captains who are David Hadley, Jesus Zendejas, Diego Gonzales, and our first freshman captain Orlando Castro-Perez. The rest of the team players are Sawyer Wilson, Juan Hernandez, Alex Zavala, Guadalupe Silva, Jonathan Rodriguez, Caesar Luna, Isaac Hale, Elias Lopez, Luis Gonzales, and our foreign exchange student from Germany Sina Kilian. The soccer team has won six games, lost seven games, and tied one game. Let’s wish all the soccer players good luck on their future games and congratulate them on their games that they have won! |

The middle school this year has won a substantial amount of games compared to previous years. No one knows what the secret is to the success of the team but some can speculate like maybe they are aliens from the planet soccer, they could’ve been replaced by cybernetic robot replicas, but whatever it is, it seems to be working. “They seemed to have put a lot of effort into practice” says Diego Gonzalez of the varsity soccer team. In an interview with Diego he had also stated that “If we would have had these kids in middle school with us, we probably wouldn’t have been able to play as much as we did”. In an interview with Elias Lopez (varsity Soccer player) he stated that the wins of the middle school soccer team were “very very interesting maybe too interesting”. Juan Hernandez said “They are crazy good and they win a lot”. I myself think that the middle school team is really good considering that they weren’t expected to win as much as they have because of the statistics over the years. The team started practice in the beginning/ middle of September. They practiced at the same time varsity practiced, but they never practiced with varsity because even though they may be good, they are not that good. George Gonzalez is their coach and he put them through a lot of conditioning. He made them do exercises that the varsity didn’t even do, like Indian runs, Shuffle runs and sometimes even Lunges. This made the soccer team more athletic then probably any other school. Coach Gonzalez also would work with the team on ball handling. Ball handling is how well the player can move the ball. He then taught the team excellent team communication so they could work as a team to achieve their goals. All in all the middle school soccer was very strong this year. |
