The Geyserville Broncho Express is published at least 8 times per year.

Due to high productions costs, the Broncho Express is delivered digitally on the school’s website. Signed articles and other pieces in the Broncho Express represent the opinion of the writer/artist and do not necessarily reflect those of the Broncho Express, Geyserville Educational Park or the Geyserville Unified School District.

The Broncho Express is digitally printed by the Studio Productions class,  Geyserville High School.

After we had packed all our stuff in the vans taking out some unnecessary things, The Ashland Club headed to Oregon around 12:15 pm. We had a few stops on our way, an old town store and a gasoline station, thanks to Alice and her bathroom emergency. When we arrived, around 7:00 pm, Mrs. Sperling-Nordqvist grabbed our tickets for the plays and other activities from the O.S.F

offices and we headed to the house where we were to stay. We loved the house because it was warm, cozy and a little bit creepy.

The next day we woke up around 7:00 am because we needed to do some homework, shower and get ready for the workshop, the prolog and the first play.  I was so excited when we got to the place where our workshop was going to be because it was an awesome place where the company stored some of the outfits of past plays and rehearsals.  The activities that we did during the workshop involve a lot of movement and acting. Our instructor made us play original games about archetypes, in which you had to hold a picture in front of your face with out looking at it and after running around you finally discover what kind of archetype your picture is. The game taught us about different kinds of character’s personalities that almost all stories have.

When the workshop was over we divided ourselves in 3 groups and went out for

lunch. Mrs. Sperling-Nordqvist Took us to a deli in which the sandwiches were named after some of Shakespeare’s most famous characters. We ate our lunches and headed to the Equivocation prolog. I am glad we had the prolog because it is a pretty confusing play that involves a lot of history, Shakespeare’s life and has a lot of details.

After the prolog, we went directly to the Angus Bowmer Theatre to see “Equivocation”. It was the world-wide premier of the play and it was fantastic and amazing. At noon we went home to have dinner, the tacos dorados were really good. After we rested a little bit, we headed to the theatre again and saw “The Music Man”. It is a nice musical full of fun and great voices. The play was over around 10:30 pm, so we went back to the house because we had a big day coming up.

The next day we went to another work shop and it was about the elements that form a play like script, lights, music, actors, background and outfits. The instructor told us about different kind of activities that the staff needs to do before the play can be shown. It was really interesting. After the workshop, we ate our lunches and went to another prolog

about Macbeth. After the prolog was over, we waited for the play to start and when the play was over we were really happy because it was a nice production with an original twist from the director.

The third play we watched was “Death and the King’s Horseman”. It was so colorful and full of African energy, it made me feel as if I was in Nigeria. Even though it was hard to understand we still loved it because we learned to have respect for other cultures. After the play was over we went back to the house a little bit sad because we knew that our Oregon days were soon going to be over.

The next morning we packed our stuff and cleaned the house. On our way back we talked about each play and Mrs. Sperling had an idea about a group activity. The activity consists of three groups and each of the groups was asked to act a short skit as a representation of the plays. The school will show the skits during open house coming soon.

The Ashland Club would like to thank all the people who made this trip possible and enchanting. We all loved it and we want to go again. I will recommend everybody to go during the summer because it is a nice experience and that you will keep for the rest of your life.
