The sixth graders have been doing a lot of studying lately. They have been working hard on their star testing, especially their English tests. Lots and lots of difficult work for them to work on. Some are annoyed and worried and stressed out, but others are excited and are enjoying the extra challenge. However, not all of the students are so enthusiastic about it. It seems that all the sixth graders ever do is test and test and test…SO. MUCH.TESTING!! How boring is that?!! Oh, but there is one test that may be worth it for them!! If the majority (or all...) of the class gets 80% correct, OR MORE!! On their upcoming test, they get to go on a field trip with Mr. Johnson to SALT POINT!! (I think that was it…) isn’t that Awesome?!! So they BETTER do well on that test or they won’t be able to go!! (>.<’)\m/ It sounds like lots of fun and lots to look forward to!! Other than that, it doesn’t seem as though they are doing very much…at…all… 痛い!! |

The eighth grade class was going to have a booth at the May Day Festival. They were going to sell ice cream, graciously donated by Clover Stornetta Farms, but unfortunately it was rained out. They are planning on using the donated ice cream as a graduation/promotion dessert. Hopefully all goes well. On Cinco De Mayo, they sold tacos dorados, enchiladas, mango juice, and orange juice. The turn out was exceptional. They made $196. The money will definitely be used for graduation. The eighth grade is looking forward to a “night under the stars.” This will be held sometime around May 24 because of a new moon. Mr. Bekker has decided to treat his eighth grade science class to a sleepover! The kids will be able to bring tents and sleep on the lawns (We are going to have Jerry turn off the sprinklers). Mr. Bekker will barbecue for the kids, as well as their families if they wish. Mr. Bekker will be barbecuing hot dogs and sausages. We will even roast marshmallows! From the time we get out of school until it gets dark, we will be playing all sorts of fun sports and games and eating. The Sonoma County Astronomical Society is, hopefully, going to come out on the lawn and give the class a lesson on astronomy. This will encourage stargazers. Everything that night will be about stars, moons, planets, and maybe some astrology. This will be a night of fun and learning! Although they have yet to completely plan the graduation/promotion ceremony, they have decided on a theme: Willy Wonka. Everything will be candy related or have something to do with the popular film “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” The eighth grade has not done so well with planning things in the past, but hopefully they will have everything planned and ready to go in one month. At the ceremony there are decorations, a backdrop, and dessert and punch, sometimes a dinner. I’m not going to release the details of this monumental event, so it will be a surprise. All I’m going to say is that it will be a blast! Can’t wait for high school! |

Some of the things 7th grade is working on is May Day and Cinco de Mayo. The only thing they have planed is selling lemon-aid. The lemon-aid will be made out of lemon-aid mix. Renée thinks “This will be boring and that they really will not raise any money, but whatever it’s they’re fault not mine so I don’t care.” Gracie believes “That they need a better idea, but this will just have to work some how. Also that during the class meeting this is really all they got done.” As far as the 7th graders know they aren’t going to have a booth at May-Day. This Sunday May-Day was canceled. Tori said that “The class hasn’t yet counted the money from Cinco de Mayo.” Erin says “That the class made $28.00 from Cinco de Mayo.” Oscar was mumbling “I have no idea on how much the class made.” Now they have no idea on what they’re doing. So they kind of gave up on selling stuff to raise money. After all they did come up with an idea!!!! The idea was to have a movie night at the school. They let everyone in for free and they sold pizza with so\das. It went from 3:30 to 5:30. Only ten to fifteen people showed up. Hopefully next time they have much better luck or ideas. They also are just got back from Out Door Ed. I heard it was a blast!! The tidepools were great with many animals found this time. Sunflower star, gumboot chiton, octopus, blenny eel, sculpin, seastars, lemon nudibranch and much more. The class is already getting started fundraising for ropes course. That will be happening during September. |

Well, the seventh graders are going to their fieldtrip. Which is Out door Ed. They are all exited about this cool fieldtrip they are having. They will be going May 10-13 not so far from now like in two weeks or so. They are staying there two nights and three days. The advisors who will be attending this fieldtrip are Mr.Bekker, Mr.Klug and possibly some parents. Gracie one of the seventh graders said “we have assigned our groups so far.” Another seventh grader Rignee said “we practiced for the hunt that goes on every year.” The hunt is really fun I did it myself and it was awesome. She also said they were going to do a lot more activities when they arrived there. For the hunt your counselor has a whole list of materials you have to find around there and whoever finds them the fastest wins. My group didn’t win but it was really fun. They will also be going to the ocean. They will have to walk a little before they get there. Everything about that field trip is fun, there isn’t one thing that I didn’t have fun with. The sixth graders are supposed to go on their fieldtrip to Salt Point. They took their practice test and most of the class did pretty well. The average score needed to be 80% or better but the average score turned out to be 71% so far. Mr. Johnson said they needed to work a little more on their math but he said some are just giving up now. I think they need to study more so they can go to their fieldtrip, and have fun. Well the big day is almost coming. Well the class just finished today May 2 taking their practice test. Mr. Johnson said he wanted them to get as much practice as they could so when the big day came to take their test they would all get 80% or higher. The big day still hasn’t come yet. I just received the news but it’s sad they aren’t going. Well maybe next time. |
